Liu Qiangdong was Born on March 10, 1973, in Suqian – an impoverished region of the Jiangsu province of China. He started his business life as a manager at the Suning Appliance Store (Hangzhou) from 1996-to 1998. He then joined Walmart China in 1999, where he held various positions, including; assistant general manager for the Wal-Mart’s branch in Shenzhen and general manager of the Suning Appliance Store.
At JD.com, Richard Liu is also known as an effective and creative leader who has created a corporate culture that encourages continuous improvements and personal innovation that results in record growth for the company. JD.com was founded, and it was the first e-commerce store in China. From a small store in Beijing, Richard Liu has led the company to reach a market value today of $50 billion.
