The Successful Life and Adventures of CEO Energy Transfer Kelcy Warren

Kelcy Warren is the chairman and CEO of Energy Transfer. He was born in Gladewater, Texas, in 1955. He was the youngest in a family of four boys. Before becoming a field clerk, his father worked for Sun Oil as a ditch digger. He was proud of his father, who only had a high school education. He celebrates him as a remarkable man. His mother was raised in Louisiana and worked in a department store. She didn’t complete her high school final year.

Warren started working at 12 by doing odd jobs such as hauling hay in a gas station. He later worked on oilfield-related jobs. All along, his father encouraged him to work hard and save money.

Kelcy Warren started his studies at the University of Texas at Arlington in 1974 by using all his earnings from teenage jobs. He always wanted to excel in school and achieve his dreams. Warren never managed to handle so much freedom in university and failed in his first year. He went home, and his father suggested that he work for him. He later went back to UTA and flourished.

Warren got a scholarship sponsored by National Science Foundation for a research project. This was due to encouragement from his professor Dr. Syed Qasim. In 1978 he accomplished his studies by earning a degree in civil engineering and was hired by Lone Star Gas Company as a design pipeline engineer. He then joined Endevco and worked in the energy development department. See related link for additional information.

Kelcy Warren bought Endevco in 1992, which became Cornerstone Natural Gas. He co-founded Energy Transfer Company. He has contributed to establishing Dallas’s Klyde Warren Park, one of the country’s top three urban parks. Kelcy Warren has been involved in Cherokee Crossroad, Inc, a Texas organization that funds children’s charities.
