The Many Tasks of the Colcom Foundation

The Colcom Foundation has a history of delving into numerous projects located in Pennsylvania. Whether the tasks involved are environmental or revolve around conservation, counties such as Armstrong, Blair, Cambria, and Lawrence. With its projects surrounding conversation, greenspace is given even more protection than ever before, especially in the Pittsburgh Airport Corridor. The same can also be said for the nine conservation areas with more than 700 acres in locations such as Moon and Chippewa.

Adding onto more details regarding past actions involving conservation, the Colcom Foundation has worked with the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy’s Revolving Fund for Local Land Trusts in order to offer loans to land trusts as well as different forms of nonprofits in order to preserve any open space in the state without the notion of strings attached during any project.

Other examples include WeConservePA assisting others with waterways as well as better implementing sustainable practices not done before as well and encouraging people to socialize outdoors more often; similarly, Westmore Land Trust stewards land in order to protect any cultural significance that adds to the history of the county it’s in.

When it comes to what the Colcom Foundation teaches to residents in Pittsburgh, it relies on the RP3 to address any important facts necessary in order to prevent rail proliferation from negatively compromising urban health as well as personal mental care. In addition, the foundation also utilizes watchdog groups to better observe how they must keep the state’s counties green, with the Environmental Integrity Project enforcing environmental laws and Protect PT adding security and better quality of life that is often exposed to pollution.

Regarding its funding, the Colcom Foundation has assisted other eco-friendly projects in order to maintain its mission of preserving land, from its exhibition in the Carnegie Museum of Natural History going over the negative impacts of human life on Earth to running youth-centered internship programs for emerging artists to improve their artistic skills while making the world a better place.
