Academy of Art University: Introducing the School of Interaction, User Interface, and User Experience Design

xIntroducing the largest and newest school at Academy of Art University. On Wednesday, March 23rd, 2018, Academy of Art University officials gathered in their San Francisco campus to formally launch their newest addition: The School of Interaction, UI, and UX Design. Offering an innovative new approach to crafting digital products and human-centric experiences for ever-changing digital spaces with a specialization in design thinking.

“The growing importance of technology is undeniable. Our interaction with them is forming the products we are using today,” said Dean of the School of Interaction, UI and UX Design, Ryan Wilson. “And we wanted to offer students a learning environment that reflects that journey. A place where students can explore the strengths and weaknesses of their design thinking through an immersive experience.”

“The interrelated fields of interaction design and user experience design bring together our students to work on projects that solve real-world phenomena,” said Dean of the School of Interaction, UI and UX Design, Rick Shiflet. “These fields are more than just design concepts—they are tools for creating a better world. These tools make it easier for new users to explore and use unfamiliar products or services.”

The School of Interaction, UI and UX Design at Academy of Art University is an immersive program that allows students to engage in hands-on design practice through iterative design prototyping, consulting services, lectures, seminars, and conferences. The coursework aims to prepare its students for a career in interaction design and user experience design—a field that has expanded greatly since the dawn of the internet. The School of Interaction, UI, and UX Design is now open for enrollment.

The Academy of Art University’s School of Interaction, UI and UX Design offers two different degree programs to choose from: the Bachelor of Science in Interaction and User Experience Design with a concentration in Professional Practice or the Bachelor of Arts in Interaction and User Experience Design with a concentration in Digital Media.
