Colcom Foundation

Colcom Foundation was created in 1996 by Cordelia S. May. Cordelia started this foundation because of her love and respect for nature. She did this to create a balance and beauty in nature, not forgetting the quality of human life, which she supported by promoting family planning. Her reason was that continual population growth was/is detrimental to the environment.

The foundation has exponentially grown after her death and supports national projects. It upholds the same values left by Cordelia and the sole purpose for its creation that was human growth population effects on the environment. Social Media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, as well as in school education, and mass media have educated people on family planning methods to prevent unwanted pregnancies and reduce natality globally.

Eighty-eight percent of population growth in the US is from immigration. Colcom Foundation supports the country by reducing immigration through a sustainable immigration policy. The foundation also supports the local environment and conservation projects. These projects help organizations and individuals to conserve land efficiently, restore and protect waterways, preserve open space, implement sustainable practices, and conserve public areas used for recreational purposes.

In support of environmental laws, Colcom Foundation helps to improve the quality of human life by protecting it from fossil fuel activity. It provides sliding-scale services to people impacted by environmental issues and offers conservation opportunities to the youth. Urban forests get restored and protected through planting trees, caring for the trees, advocating for people, and educating people. Additionally, watersheds and water resources are preserved and restored. Waste is also safely disposed of.

Colcom Foundation supports local communities. Scenic beauty is protected and promoted, whereas communities’ economic, social, and environmental health is improved. The foundation offers summer internship programs that refine learners’ artistic skills and provide culinary training and career paths to the unemployed. Moreover, they provide disaster relief to residents. Refer to this article for additional information.
