Greg Aziz Exonerated from Quality Violation
Greg Aziz, the chairman and CEO of the Wabtec Corporation, is proud of the 100 years of excellent provision of rail services in North America. He has earned the company a reputation as the leading railroad freight and truck manufacturer. As the CEO, he has created employment for thousands of people, creating a dynamic, diverse, and innovative workplace.
Greg Aziz values consistency; to this effect, he raises the bar to challenge himself and the company operations to ensure efficient and effective production. This has made the production of quality railcars possible and earned him customer satisfaction. His belief in core values and continuous effort has made Wabtec Corporation relentless in pursuit of excellence and leadership in manufacturing.
In March 2023, the company suffered a huge setback as one of its railcars was involved in a multi-car accident. This led to the assumption that the wheelset was loose and improperly mounted, Greg Aziz adds. The AAR Wheel, Axles, Bearing, and Lubrication Committee was set to remove and inspect the wheels to gather evidence. However, Wabtec Corporation presented mounting evidence, leading to the inspection exercise’s cancellation.
Although the outstanding Wabtec Corporation did not agree with the assumption that their wheelsets were in bad operation shape, they collected data to review the safety concerns. Greg Aziz explains that the data proved that the wheels were mounted with total adherence to the Wheel Mounting Requirements, which meant the company was not to blame for the accident.
The company was therefore exonerated in April 2023, and normal business dealings resumed. Business leader Greg Aziz urged that the laser data proved that the accident was due to the enormous impact applied on the wheels during the Springfield derailment. He, however, pointed out that his company will pay closer attention to railroad conditions and potential safety risks.
