The Colcom Foundation: Safeguarding Against Extinction
The Colcom Foundation is an organization that seeks to highlight how excessive human population growth can have a calamitous effect on the environment and phrases this disaster scenario as the “Sixth Mass Extinction”.
Its efforts to curtail an excessive American population involve the following endeavors.
The “Population Media Center,” which seeks to educate and entertain in ways related to managed unplanned and undesired pregnancy.
“NumbersUSA,” the “Federation for American Immigration Reform,” and the “Center for Immigration Studies.” As immigration allegedly accounts for nearly 90% of America’s population growth, the Colcom Foundation is deeply invested in discussing and pursuing the reduction of those numbers to a level that the country’s environment could sustain through the advocacy and research collected through these groups.
As it strives to acknowledge its origins, the Colcom Foundation is also quite invested in the environmental health of southwestern Pennsylvania. This deep interest manifests in several different groups, trusts, and concerns, including the following.
Colcom Foundation “Hollow Oak Land Trust” seeks to safeguard and tether greenspaces within the Pittsburgh Airport Corridor and over 700 acres across nine towns throughout the area.
The “Western Pennsylvania Conservancy’s Revolving Fund for Local Land Trusts” offers rapid response, short-term, zero-interest loans to support land trusts and other charities that want to preserve open spaces and conserve high-priority locations.
“WeConservePA” is intended for groups and individuals to pursue the conservation of land and waterways, inform about sustainability, and improve the human connection to nature.
“Westmoreland Land Trust” oversees and preserves the land of Westmoreland County for the public good.
“Rail Pollution Protection Pittsburgh” is an organization focused on highlighting the negatives of excessive rail infrastructure.
The “Environmental Integrity Project” advocates for effective adherence to, and enforcement of, laws concerning the nature and environment. Refer to this article for more information.
