John Hailer met Amazing People in the Process

John Hailer family

No one loves a good story as much as I do. This is why I have written my life’s story in detail to share with the world. My family did not come from a wealthy background, but they came together and learned to love each other through really hard times. Our family was mostly farmers growing up on my grandma’s small farm just outside of Louisville, Kentucky. We used her pigs for fertilizer, cared for our own cows, chickens and turkeys on the farm, made our own garden from scratch and grew food. I grew up with a great sense of independence, but also a respect for working hard and the benefit of doing so. I have always been held accountable to trying my best in everything that I put my mind to.

I attended Cincinnati’s Central High School and quickly learned about the limitations that poverty can create for students, but was also inspired by my teachers and peers to do things beyond my other classmates. I earned 12 varsity letters and graduated from high school when I was only 16 years old. I was accepted to go to the University of Kentucky on a scholarship for outstanding academic achievement. The achievement also earned me an invitation to join the Phi Beta Kappa society, which is considered an honor society for the best and brightest students in the country and at least one representative from each state school. My parents wanted me to get my degree in business administration so they could get a good job, but I knew that wasn’t the path that I wanted to take. I decided to follow my passion and pursue a degree in the fine arts, which led me to a degree in 20th century music history. I attended the university for one year before serving 18 months as an officer’s aide in the US Air Force.

One of my missions while serving was touring over 200 bases throughout Europe playing piano for wounded soldiers. I would play in the hospitals and do my best to entertain them while they were recovering. I saw many young men and woman who had given so much of themselves for their country and I did my best to bring some comfort to them.John Hailer met amazing people in the process, which was extremely meaningful to me.After serving in the military, I returned to school at Center College of Kentucky on a full tuition scholarship and graduated summa cum laude with a BA in music with an emphasis on piano performance/composition.

Natixis Bank recruited me to start as a graduate trainee, which was a great opportunity to learn the ins and outs of Wall Street, while securing financial security for myself with a well-established company. The job description stated that I needed to go through one year of training with the company before I could take employment in the New York office. My family did not want me to take this position because of the high probability of frequent travel. John Hailer was to be on a plane almost daily and was not guaranteed that I would live permanently in New York. I decided to take the position in New York and see how it goes, but never really dreamed of living there.Natixis Bank made me who i am today .
