Yazan Al Homsi-Backed Edumentors Crosses $4 Million in Sales

Dubai-based venture capitalist Yazan Al Homsi has added another growth milestone to his investment portfolio, with UK edtech platform Edumentors announcing it has surpassed $4 million in cumulative sales alongside 1.8x year-over-year revenue growth. The announcement, first reported by Business Insider Africa, highlights the continued momentum of one of Al Homsi’s education-sector bets.

Edumentors operates an AI-enabled online tutoring marketplace that connects students with tutors from elite UK institutions, including Cambridge and Oxford. The platform has now delivered more than 200,000 tutoring hours globally, a figure that underscores the scale the company has reached since Al Homsi’s involvement. As part of its latest push, the company has deployed four new AI-powered tools designed to support tutor performance, streamline onboarding, and improve the structure of individual learning plans after the company completed the Malta EdTech Accelerator programme.

For Al Homsi, the update fits a broader pattern. The Dubai-based investor built his career on a finance degree from McGill University and a CFA designation, followed by senior roles at PricewaterhouseCoopers across the Middle East and North Africa. He now serves as principal of Catalyst Wire and Founders Round Capital, firms through which he has backed companies such as Aduro Clean Technologies and Rocket Doctor AI in addition to Edumentors.

Al Homsi has been vocal about his investment philosophy, particularly when it comes to education technology. He has consistently argued that artificial intelligence should augment human expertise rather than replace it, a view reflected in Edumentors’ approach of using AI to support tutors rather than substitute for them. With global EdTech funding climbing from $5.6 billion to $6.3 billion in 2024, the sector’s growth trajectory appears to be validating that stance, and Edumentors’ latest numbers suggest Al Homsi’s read on the market continues to hold up.
