Randy Douthit

Randy Douthit is the executive producer and director of Judy Justice, a popular T.V. show about a detective and her teenage daughter, which is about to hit a milestone of 50 years. Douthit is also the creator of one of the first T.V. shows to feature a female detective and her daughter, creating an equality that female-led shows are now being praised for. He was born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, and has been active in television since 1973. A native of Memphis, Randy began his career in Hollywood as an assistant director and third A.D. on various T.V. shows and movies after graduating from the UCLA Film School. He soon transitioned to a producer, producing two episodes of the new ABC drama Nashville starring Connie Britton, Hayden Panettiere, and Eric Close.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wittenberg University, a Master of Arts degree in Theatre and Communications from the University of Southern California, and a Master of Organizational Management degree from the USC George S. Argyros School of Business.

Douthit has been involved in filmmaking and television production since the early 1970s. From 1972 – 1975, he served as a Film Editor with The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, where he edited “The Jesus Film” and many of Billy Graham’s award-winning films. In 1977, he produced his first television movie for ABC Television Network titled “The Baby Brokers,” starring Sally Field and John Houseman. Randy Douthit has developed a successful career over the years, being an executive producer for various movies and T.V. shows, including the television show called Nashville.

  1. Awards and Recognition

Douthit has been honored with many awards from the film and television industries. In 2004, he was honored with a P.J. Award for his documentary “The Light of the World,” which chronicled Billy Graham’s mission to Moscow in 1991 when his organization held the Moscow Peace Concerts. He won a silver medal at the New York Festival for Television in 2005 with an episode of “Judy Justice” titled “The Bad Seed.
