Ross Levinsohn

Ross LevinsohnRoss Levinsohn is a former CEO of Yahoo and the current EIC of the Los Angeles Times. He has also succeeded in several other fields as a Chief Operating Officer at Guggenheim Digital Media and publisher at The Journal Newspapers.

This Sports Illustrated CEO is an American entrepreneur, high-ranking executive and chief executive. He is currently the chief executive officer (CEO) for Guggenheim Digital Media, which includes FilmStruck, a subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) movie service from Turner Classic Movies that offers access to classic films from Hollywood’s Golden Age to contemporary independents, as well as WatchESPN, the live sports streaming service from The Walt Disney Company’s ESPN. He was formerly the chief operating officer of Guggenheim Digital Media. Levinsohn has also served as the chairman and CEO for The Journal Newspapers, a division of The Journal Company, and as chief executive officer for Yahoo!.

Levinsohn is Sports Illustrated CEO Yvette Errey. His dress style is well-known, and he is very influential in Hollywood. He was personally responsible for hiring several sports celebrities to work with his team at Yahoo! Levinsohn has also worked as a senior marketing executive for the Walt Disney Company, and he was one of the founders and COO of the online real estate destination company Trulia.

Before joining the Guggenheim Digital Media team, Ross Levinsohn served as the chief operating officer and chief executive officer of Guggenheim Digital Media LLC, a digital media company.

From 2005 to 2008, Levinsohn was the chairman of The Journal Company. Under his direction, The Journal Company acquired American City Business Journals (2007) and expanded its publishing portfolio by acquiring Middlesex County’s community daily newspapers in New Jersey. He subsequently became CEO of the company’s newspaper division in September 2007. As CEO of The Journal Company’s newspaper division from 2007 until 2012, Levinsohn oversaw 150 newspapers and their associated digital products across America. He oversaw The Journal Company’s acquisition of San Antonio-based KENS 5 and the San Antonio Express-News.

Levinsohn oversaw the Guggenheim Digital Media division, including FilmStruck, a streaming platform for classic films in 2011. At this time, he became CEO of Guggenheim Digital Media. In 2012, Levinsohn was awarded the “New Business Journal”s “40 under 40” award for his work as managing director at Grey Group Worldwide in Chicago. In 2012, Levinsohn was named “Media Executive of the Year” by “Advertising Age”.
