How Kelcy Warren Attained His Current Success And Status
Everybody wants to achieve success in whatever field they are in. While many people associate success with career and financial growth, Kelcy L. Warren, the Chief Executive Officer and chairman at Energy Transfer, defines it as having no regrets and being at peace with oneself.
Born in 1955 as the last of four sons, Kelcy Warren received a lot of motivation from his mother and father, who did not have much but did everything to ensure their children received a proper education.
However, the poor background saw Warren start working at 12 to help his parents and save for college. After getting good grades and advice from his high school counselor, he applied for an engineering course at the University of Texas Arlington.
However, the overwhelming college freedom he was not used to saw him slacking in his studies, resulting in his being kicked out after his first year. He returned home and worked with his father as he attended a local college. However, after a year of growing up, Kelcy Warren got re-accepted into the school and participated in a National Science Foundation-sponsored project.
That came after advice from Dr. Syed Qasim, Warren’s engineering professor. He did a methane gas production project that saw him emerge top, and Warren said that was the turning point that helped him realize his potential to compete with others in the field.
After graduating in 1978 with a civil engineering degree, he joined Lone Star Gas Company as a pipeline design engineer. He remained in the company for three years, then shifted to the commercial energy development sector and joined Endevco.
In 1992, Kelcy Warren partnered with a friend, acquired the company, and later renamed it Cornerstone Natural Gas. They worked on the company and sold it four years later, after which Warren co-founded Energy Transfer.
ETP has numerous partnerships through which they gather, process, treat, and transport natural gas liquids, natural gas, crude oil, and refined products. That has helped achieve great success in the industry and currently manages the most extensive and diversified US publicly treated energy partnerships portfolio. Go to this page for more information.
