Vijay Eswaran professional background spans three continents and includes a diverse range of business experience, spanning as an entrepreneur, corporate executive, investor and philanthropist.

With his unique insights into the workings of a global economy he has been an adviser to governments and policy makers in Asia, Europe and North America. As a result of the transformation programmes he has led in emerging countries, companies in these economies have seen their profitability increase by more than 250% on average.

Vijay Eswaran is the author of two books – “The Alchemy Of Growth: How Enterprise Performance Is Transforming Global Markets” published by Palgrave Macmillan/St. Martin’s Press in May 2009 and “The Global Edge” published by Harper Collins India in 2011.

Born in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Eswaran was educated at Royal College Colombo (Won the President’s Award for Academic Performance) and at King’s College, Cambridge where he studied Mechanical Sciences. He has been conferred an Honorary Doctorate from the International University of Monaco.

In 1974 he joined General Electric Company (GEC) as Systems Engineer. In 1985 he established a chain of retail stores called Vijay Stores. In 1993, he sold his business interests to British Telecom for stock valued at about $382 million and continued there as an executive director until 1997. After resigning from BT, Eswaran devoted his time to philanthropic activities — mainly in the Sri Lankan region.

In 2002, he launched CX Partners, a new investment company focused on mid-sized companies in SE Asia. CX Partners has since grown into a group of companies operating across SE Asia and the UK with a combined turnover of over US$1 billion, employing over 12500 people.

Vijay Eswaran is the founder and executive chairman of CX Partners, the leading consumer-focused pan-Asian incubator. It is an investment platform for entrepreneurs and start-ups across emerging markets.

CX Partners has been a driving force behind such businesses as Baskin Robbins, Pizza Hut, Dunkin Donuts, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and Reebok in Asia. Its portfolio also includes large listed companies such as Amara Raja Batteries, Uflex Limited and SPA Group.

In January 2014 Eswaran launched CSR Group which will focus on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects in healthcare and education in South Asia.
