Raffaele Riva

Raffaele Riva is an Italian entrepreneur who made a fortune in the steel industry. He is best known for building his family-owned company, Riva Group, into one of Italy’s largest and most successful steel manufacturers. He has also been a driving force behind the development of other industries, such as real estate and construction in Italy.

Raffaele Riva was born in Venice, Italy. Upon graduation, he studied economics and business at the University of Milan and worked for a small accounting firm near his hometown. In 1981, Raffaele began his business by purchasing a local ironworks from its owners, who had done business with his father’s company for years.

Through hard work and dedication, he transformed it into what is today known as Riva Group – one of the leading steel manufacturers in Europe.

Today Riva Group is an international leader in steel production, marketing, real estate development, and engineering services. Under the leadership of Raffaele Riva, the group has grown exponentially both within Italy and around the world, with more than 25 manufacturing sites across four continents. The success of this venture attracted attention from various countries outside of Italy and resulted in joint ventures with corporations like

ThyssenKrupp AG (Germany), Uddeholm (Sweden), JSW Steel Ltd (India), and Kockum (Finland).

In addition to steel production, Raffaele Riva has also ventured into other fields such as transport infrastructure, where he built two suspension bridges connecting two independent islands off Sicily, financed a new railway track between Brescia Merate to Rimini-Rimini Montebello which opened up in 2017, developed tourism ports on Sicilian coasts that can cater to 1000+ boats docking simultaneously plus sporting marinas throughout Europe with yacht facilities along their seashores.

In recognition of all his achievements over the years, Raffaele Riva has been decorated by numerous organizations, including the Businessperson of the Year Award received from Italia Burger – Italian Institute For Corporate Culture; the Honorary Gold Medal conferred by The Lions Club International; European Award For Cultural Achievement presented by President Barroso; Knight Of Justice Award issued by Holy See; amongst many other honors bestowed upon him worldwide.
